Mineral deposit in the pipes is also a common problem faced by many. This is commonly seen in homes where pipes are more than three decades old. Cleaning the old pipes is definitely an option but ideally, you should also take a close look at the possibility of replacing the old pipes.

Do not forget to remove the plug before you use the Allen wrench. Check out the unit after plugging it back in. Also ensure that the power is on. Call a plumber in case nothing works.
How Do I Fix a Leaky Valve (boiler drains, shut off valves etc)?

Most of the tank water heaters are durable and last for at least 10 years. Therefore, professional inspection will be needed to figure out the root cause of problem in older units. The easiest option is replacement in most of the cases.
Also, the modern systems available these days are highly energy efficient. In some cases, heater stops working due to a broken sensor or a broken heating element. If that’s not the case, you should get in touch with a professional plumber.
